A Winter Storm Warning Remains In Effect Until 10 PM EST This Evening.

Snow Will Continue Into The Afternoon Hours And Will Be Heavy At Times During The Midday And Afternoon When Bursts Of Snow Will Lead To Snowfall Rates Occasionally Exceeding An Impressive 2 Inches An Hour. The Heaviest Snowfall May Even Be Accompanied By Some Thunder Later In The Afternoon.

Snowfall Accumulations Today Will Range From 8 To 12 Inches With An Additional 1 To 3 Inches Possible Tonight When The Steady Snow Will Taper Off To Scattered Snow Showers.

In Addition To Heavy Snow…Northeast Winds Will Increase To 15 To 25 Mph Friday Afternoon And Evening With Gusts Up To 30 Mph. The Winds May Gust As High As 40 Mph Near The Lake Ontario Shore. This Will Result In Blowing And Drifting Snow… Especially Across Open Areas.

I was planning an hour vacation to get the Christmas Holiday started off but ended up taking a bit more to avoid the traffic. The way the wind was blowing, there was a good 6 or more inches of snow that had drifted onto my windshield in the four hours since the snow started. Driving was terrible. I skipped the grocery store and went straight home.

Current temp: 18F | Windchill 8F (but when the winds pick up — and I’m just a couple miles from the Lake Ontario Shore — the wind chill temp will really come to play.)
