Cedar Point Trip 3

This was an interesting one. A man was caught, umm, urinating, under the Magnum XL-200 station. Appears he was given a nice escort to the exit by Cedar Point PD. He earned that one. This lead to some fun times of making fun of the guy while we were there for the rest of the day. By we, I mean myself, Chris, Robert, Jeff, Jerry, and Randy. We were taking different songs and changing them, such as one from the queues, “I think we’re alone now… I stopped to take a pee and I got thrown ooouuutttt,” and, “When you take a pee….. illegally…… who you gonna call??? Magnum Riders! … If a spot is wet, and has a yellow tint… who you gonna call??? Magnum Riders!” All I can say is we were laughing pretty much nonstop for about 2 or 3 hours from this. It was great.

Ok, time for some statistics. On Sunday, I rode Magnum 45 times. On Saturday, 10 times. This brings the seasonal total to 166, and including 2004 (547) and 2003 (500 – no official count this year, but this estimate is a good low one), 1213. Given that the track is 5,106 feet, I’ve travelled 1,173 miles (1,887 km) so far on this.

Counting Keys

Suddenly I’m tracking the number of keystrokes and mouse clicks I make. If you want to see where things stand, hop on over to WhatPulse.

I miss Earth & Beyond

A little while ago (I think September 2004), EA Games decided to sunset Earth & Beyond, an online game where, instead of going around shooting each other with guns or swinging swords, you could fly between different worlds, explore new places, conduct interstellar trading, and yes, get into intergalactic wars with other players, or just go shoot aliens. I really miss the game. I haven’t heard of anything that’s quite like it, and I wish either EA Games would bring the servers back online, or open-source/sell the server code so that it could be brought back online.

The gameplay was different, really sci-fi-ish, and the soundtrack was good, the graphics were great; it was just fun to play. Ever since the sunset, I haven’t bought an EA game, nor do I have any plans to. Not only because of the sunset, but because of their lack of caring about the customer, including incompatibilities with their copy protection (a friend of mine had a problem with a game once because of it).

Inline Skating

Today I went skating for the first time in 2 years. Funny how, like riding a bike, you don’t forget how even after so long. I have new bearings and wheels (thanks mom!) and it made for a little bit faster trip around Stony Creek Metropark, so, rather than one trip around like always, I made two, for a total of 12 miles (20 km). Yes, I’m a little sore after that. I placed some pictures of the park in the gallery.

Yesterday (Tuesday) I went to Cedar Point for the day. Add 40 Magnum rides to the list, for a seasonal total of 111 so far. I also rode a few other things while I was there.

First Spotter Activation

Yesterday was the first time I joined the Skywarn Spotter Network, and although we didn’t have any severe weather, it was neat to join the net and see how it runs. It’s one of those things where you wish for severe weather, and then, you don’t wish for it, if you get what I mean.

I took my camera along, but nothing really worth taking a snapshot of took place. Maybe next time there will be.

Gallery

I installed Coppermine, a photo gallery solution, and I’ve uploaded a few pictures. I guess I should start taking more. ;)

It’s at http://gallery.aaronhulett.com.

Registering and emails

Part of securing this server is biting me in the butt. As everyone that’s registered has probably noticed, emails aren’t making it out. I’m trying to investigate why. The problem’s being discussed here.

Hopefully I can get this figured out really soon. I’ve already changed the way it emails out, and I think everything’s working, as nothing’s jamming in the outgoing anymore, but a confirmation that emails from this are received would make me feel a whole lot better. ;)

If you registered before, and didn’t receive any email from this (it should go out instantly), try a Lost Your Password and see if you get it then. Sorry for the trouble.

Intern Spot

Well, to my surprise, one of my childhood dreams is coming true. Never thought it would happen, but I’ll be headed off for an intern spot. You’ve probably heard of this company before, I’m sure.

What can I say? I’m as stunned as anyone!

Cedar Point Opening Weekend

Cedar Point (http://www.cedarpoint.com) opened on Saturday, so I spent the weekend there. For those that know me, Magnum XL 200 is my favorite, and what should come as no surprise, I have 71 rides for the weekend. Still some to go for beating last year’s 547 rides, but a good start.

Other than that, my face, back of my neck, and arms are sunburned, so let that be a lesson to put on sunscreen even when it seems really weird to need. I met up with some friends down there, and made some new ones, so all in all it was a good time.

Welcome to my blog!

Greetings! This is my first attempt at a blog. I’m not sure how popular this will be, or anything like that at all, but I’m giving it a shot just to see how things go.
